Join the Education Committee program  "Helping the Afghanistan Refugees" on January 18 at 7:30 pm via Zoom.  Please rsvp to gloria.pincu@gmail.com by January 11.
We all watched our TVs in horror last summer as we saw the chaotic and dangerous evacuation of Afghans who had been connected to Americans and, thus, were in peril from the Taliban.  Asheville is settling as many of these people as we can though resources are hard to find. Come listen to Barbara Weitz tell you the stories of  these people and what they are currently facing and have experienced since August.  We’ll also be joined by one of these evacuees, Lutfullah Sadat, a young man (18), who left without his family and spent almost 2 months being shuttled by U.S. Army cargo planes  from Qatar to Germany to a Resettlement Camp in Virginia and, finally, to Asheville. He’ll try to field any questions you may have (he learned English in high school in Afghanistan though mostly “by the book”).
